Ireland

Ireland is one of the largest islands in Europe and ranked 20th in the world according to Wikipedia. It is divided into four provinces; Ulster, Munster, Leinster, and Connacht. Ireland is very rich in history and has plenty of sites for you to enjoy sightseeing. It has preserved most of its cultural heritage, including their castles, which still stand to this day. There are several tourist and travel destinations in Ireland which you can enjoy visiting. These places are among the most visited places in Ireland and are very famous with international tourists.

Carrickfergus Castle.... This is the castle in the old town where I grew up. The castle and the town are both steeped in history, and I've always wanted to take a nice photo of it. The castle is over 800 years old and is the best preserved Norman castle in Britain (if not the world). The harbour peir in the middle forground to the right hand side is actually the inner harbour peir, but it represents the old origional Carrick harbour. Just visible at the end of it you can see a set of steps. These are reputed to be the steps that Prince Wlliam of Orange (King Billy) climbed when he landed at Carrickfergus way back in the day. I had just been in the Harbour point for a lovely dinner with my family when I took this, and everyone sat huddled in the car, sheltering from the rain while I stood on the old coal quay with my tripod and snapped a few shots with the intention of HDRing them later. This is the final result.
